Design Services

We design digital products around how people actually work — UX, UI, and the service layer that connects them, from concept to production.

What does design add to a product?

Our design services in Adelaide decide how your software works and looks before anyone builds it, so you find the problems while they are cheap to fix. We sit with the people who will use the product, map how they work today, then design and test the screens with them until the hard tasks become simple.

The work covers user research, information architecture, interaction design, visual design and design systems, for web and mobile products. We were technology partner to EnergyFlex, whose app won a 2026 Australian Good Design Award, and the myMaxMine app we designed still averages more than 700 sessions a month across four open pits.

Good design is not decoration. It is the difference between software people use and software people avoid.

How does a design project run?

Understand

We start with the people using the product. User research, stakeholder interviews, and a review of what already exists. We do not assume we know the problem before we have heard it.

Design

Wireframes, prototypes, and visual design developed iteratively. We test ideas early, when changing them is cheap, and refine them before anything goes to development.

Deliver

Production-ready design files, component documentation, and a handover process that means developers are not guessing. We stay involved through build to make sure what gets shipped matches what was designed.

What does a design engagement look like?

A design engagement turns a product people struggle with into one they can use, and hands your developers a tested plan to build from. Playground123 is a good example. They had twenty years of playground safety expertise and a platform too complicated for anyone else to use, so we redesigned it and delivered a blueprint of screens, flows and states that their own developers built straight from.

The result could be shown rather than explained, which shifted their investor conversations. Read the Playground123 case study, or see how we designed the SA Fishing App to work offshore with no reception. If you are not sure where to start, a Rapid Insight Workshop runs over two sessions and delivers a strategy, business case and product spec in around three weeks.

Tools and methods

What we use to do the work

  • Figma

  • Prototyping

  • User research

  • Journey mapping

  • Wireframing

  • Design systems

  • Accessibility

  • Component libraries

  • Information architecture

  • Usability testing

  • Service blueprinting

  • Design tokens

Which design service do we need?

Start with what is going wrong, not with the deliverable you think you want. Most products need the first two together; service design comes in when the problem is bigger than any one screen.

People cannot find their way

UX Design covers research, journey mapping, wireframes and testing with real users, including for products not built yet.

Screens look inconsistent

UI Design gives you production-ready Figma files and a component library your developers can build from.

The experience breaks between teams

Service Design maps every touchpoint between the customer, your staff and your back office, and the processes behind them.

Questions about design work

Design work is quoted as a fixed price for a defined scope before anything starts. Refining one flow or applying an existing design system to a set of screens is a small engagement, while a full research-to-screens design of a new product is larger. If the scope is not clear yet, a Rapid Insight Workshop is a fixed $9,000 + GST and gives you a strategy, business case and product spec to quote against.

Most design projects take two to twelve weeks, depending on scope. Refining one flow or applying an existing design system usually takes two to four weeks. A complete research-to-screens design of a new product, or a service redesign across several teams, usually takes six to twelve weeks, and the timeline is fixed in the quote.

We need regular access to your users and one decision-maker, usually a product owner. In practice that means a kickoff, interviews or testing sessions with the people who use the product, and a short review every week or two. The more closely your product owner works with us, the fewer decisions get reopened later.

You do. Everything we produce, including research findings, prototypes, Figma files, the component library and design tokens, is yours to keep and change. You can keep working with us on it, or hand it to another team.

Yes. Design-only work is common, and the handover is built for it: production-ready Figma files with documented components, spacing, typography and interaction notes. Playground123's own developers built their platform straight from our design blueprint. We recommend whoever builds it joins a couple of reviews before handover, so costly decisions are caught early, and if you later want us to build it, the same people can.

Yes. We design for web, iOS, Android and cross-platform products, and usually design mobile-first because that is where most users are. The SA Fishing App, for example, was designed for glare, weather and one free hand, and works with no reception at all.
